The members of the Hockey Australia community are inconsolable due to the news that Dr. Tony Galvin has died away. His contributions to the sport will be greatly missed. During any of the Olympic contests that took place between 1984 and 1996, Tony made himself available as a medic to either the Kookaburras or the Hockeyroos at no charge.
These competitions took place between the years 1984 and 1996. These tournaments were held in a variety of locations across the globe. Because it was commonly known that Tony was exceptionally giving with both his time and his knowledge, he was frequently asked to treat athletes or officials from other sports. This was due to the fact that Tony was well known to be incredibly generous with both. The reason for this was due to the fact that Tony was quite generous with both of these items.
During the twenty years that he spent working with Australia’s national hockey teams, he attended a number of World Cups as the team physician for both the Kookaburras and the Hockeyroos at a number of different tournaments. He was responsible for the health and well-being of the players. During this time period, Australia amassed a total of five victories at the World Cup. The passing of Tony will have a profound effect on each and every person who ever had the privilege of naming Tony among their group of close friends, no matter how long ago that privilege may have been bestowed.
