Trustee Frank Death, Obituary – Frank Kozak, who served as a trustee on the Schaumburg Village Board, passed away on December 2, 2022 at the age of 78. It is with deep regret that the Village of Schaumburg shares the news of his passing. Kozak had lived in Schaumburg for a very long time and had been of service to the community there for about 40 years in a variety of roles. “The departure of Trustee Kozak is a significant loss for the Village of Schaumburg,” said Village President Tom Dailly, who served as a village trustee alongside Kozak for eight years.
Dailly and Kozak were on the Schaumburg Village Board together for over eight years. “Not only has Trustee Kozak been a good friend of mine for a good portion of my life, but he has also been an outstanding representative of the village government and has devoted himself to enhancing the quality of life in our neighborhood. My deepest condolences go out to Frank’s family, and I extend them on behalf of the Village Board. From 1983 until 2009, Trustee Kozak was a member of the Plan Commission for a total of 26 years.
In 2009, he won a seat on the Village Board, and he has been serving in that capacity for the past 13 years. Kozak was a member of a variety of committees and commissions, some of which include the Public Safety Committee, the Finance, Legal, Administration, and General Government Committee, and the Planning, Building, and Development Committee. As part of the activities that took place during Septemberfest in the village this year, Kozak was privileged to serve as the grand marshal of the 50th Labor Day Parade.
Over the course of the village’s existence, Kozak has been a part of the celebration and procession for each of its fifty years. Kozak served the community in a variety of additional capacities in addition to his work as an elected politician over a period of time. He was active in organizations such as the Schaumburg Jaycees, in which he held positions as local president and state director; the Schaumburg Athletic Association, in which he worked as a soccer commissioner for four years; and the Schaumburg High School VIP program, which provides support for high school activities.
Kozak also volunteered for a period of over 20 years with the Misericordia organization. Kozak was an active volunteer at the Church of the Holy Spirit, where he was a lector and an usher. Kozak was a member of the church. According to the Village Manager Brian Townsend, “Trustee Kozak’s legacy is built upon his many years of public service. However, he will also be remembered as a person who had a great sense of humor, worked diligently to make a difference in the community by giving back, and demonstrated a true love for Schaumburg.” “He will be greatly missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.”
