Steve Chet Obituary, Death – Funeral services for Steven Chet, age 47, of Decatur, will be held on Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at 12:00 p.m., at Beltline Church of Christ, with Randy Owens and Scott Bailey serving as the officiating clergy. Shelton Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements. Prior to the start of the service in the church, the family will host a reception for guests lasting for two hours. Burningtree Memorial Gardens will serve as the location for the interment.
Mr. Humphries was born in Atlanta, Georgia on June 10, 1964. He was the son of the late Eleanor Ann Humphries and Hollis Edward Whitman, who both predeceased him. Mr. Humphries passed away on Saturday, May 19, 2012, at Parkway Medical Center. In addition, Edwin (Bubba) Puckett and George Humphries, his adopted father, both fathered and inspired him throughout his life. He is survived by his devoted wife Kim Humphries of Decatur, Alabama; their three children: Chris Humphries, Cole Humphries, and Cara Humphries; a sister, Holly Napier, of Columbus, Georgia; three brothers, Tony Humphries of Phenix City, Alabama.
Phil Humphries of Loganville, Georgia, and Jeff Humphries of Columbus, Georgia; a stepsister, Jamie Whitman Thornton, of Houston, Texas; and two stepbrothers, Troy Whitman Chet was a one-of-a-kind individual in the eyes of all those who crossed his path. He was larger than life, both in terms of his heart and his energy. Those who had the good fortune to know him appreciated his positive outlook on life and his generous nature.
He was never too busy for a laugh, never too uptight for a hug, and he lived his life in such a way that it was always clear to his loved ones and friends that he was there for them. He will be sorely missed, but the people whose lives he touched will have a special place in their hearts for the rest of their days. It was clear that he had a strong relationship with God, both from the way he smiled and from the way he led his life. The following individuals have volunteered to serve as pallbearers.

His brothers and sister, as well as any man or woman who ministered to him in the last quarter of his life, will serve as honorary pallbearers during his funeral. His family will be grateful to you for all of eternity for the time that you took and the kindness that you showed us during this difficult time.
