Sheldon Lawrence Obituary, Death – The name Sheldon Lawrence. On March 1, 2021, Sheldon (Shelly) Lawrence passed away at the age of 85 years old. His devoted wife of 44 years, Maribeth Lawrence, his son Todd Lawrence and his wife Stephanie, along with their two children Jake and Emma, and his daughter Melissa Reiner and her husband Michael, along with their daughters Brooke and Jill, are among those who are left behind after he passed away.
Shelly’s beloved mother Beatrice, father Jules, and brother Larry all passed away before him. Shelly was the youngest of three children. He is survived by his devoted nieces and nephews, Laura and Marty Kauman of Rochester, New York, and Sandra and Bob Lefcovich of Grass Valley, California, as well as their children. He is also survived by his great sister-in-law, Lois Lapidus, who lives in Rochester, New York.
Shelly lived in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, for the first five years of his life, and throughout that time, he has remained a devoted and enthusiastic supporter of both the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Pittsburgh Pirates. Both he and Maribeth had a good time attending the games in Pennsylvania. He spent his boyhood in Mt. Vernon, New York, and has maintained close relationships with his childhood friends Morty Usdan, Donny Brout, and Bruce Slovin throughout his life. Shelly earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Cornell University and then went on to earn his Master of Arts degree from Columbia University.
Maribeth and Shelly moved to Fairfield, Connecticut in 1986 after having previously called New York, New York, Potomac, Maryland, and Old Greenwich, Connecticut home. At the time, he was a member of the Congregation Beth El in Fairfield. Shelly donated her time to the School Volunteer Association of Bridgeport, Connecticut, serving as a mentor for the organization. Shelly and Maribeth started a program to assist refugee parents in improving their English skills so that they could in turn assist their children who were of school age.
