Roger Pearce Obituary, Death – Roger Pearce has passed away; he began his professional life working as an OB and studio engineer at Grampian. After that, he spent the better part of the last 40 years working for TVS in the South East, Meridian, and ITV Sport. As the technical lead for the network’s major athletic events, he was saving the Qatar tournament for his last competition before retiring. He went away on Saturday, just a day before the event was scheduled to begin.
Roger Pearce has been involved in a vast array of projects spanning all genres, and he has held senior managerial positions in the operations of transmission, news, sports, and facilities. After beginning his career in broadcasting as an Engineer at Grampian TV, where he worked in both the studios and outside broadcasts, he went on to work in various ITV areas, including TVS and Meridian, before joining the ITV network Sport.
Since the Olympic Games in 1988, he has been a member of the ITV Sports Major Events team. In 2001, he became a full-time employee of ITV Sport in the role of Technical Producer. In 2008, he was promoted to the position of Technical Director. More recently, he has been responsible for the technical planning and operational management of ITV Sport’s output, which includes the handling of big events such as the FIFA World Cup. Championships of European Football Association (UEFA) and the World Cup of Rugby. In addition to that, he has worked in a variety of sporting events, including Formula One, World Rally Championship, British Touring Car Championship, UEFA Champions League, Racing, The FA Cup, and England International football.
