Ray McKelvey Death, Obituary – The Owen Sound Attack family is in a state of profound grief following the passing of team Business Manager Ray McKelvie on Thursday night at the age of 87 after a battle with cancer. McKelvie passed away after a long battle with the disease. After a valiant and protracted struggle against the illness, McKelvie lost her fight and passed away. After an extended course of treatment, McKelvie was unable to overcome the effects of his sickness and passed away. Owen Sound does not currently have a Major Junior hockey club because Ray Holody was unable to convince his family to move the Guelph Platers to Owen Sound prior to the beginning of the 1989–1990 season. As a result,
the city of Owen Sound does not have a junior hockey team at this time. Because of this, the city does not currently have a Major Junior hockey club at present moment. This is a direct result of the situation. In the ten years that followed, he played a significant role in the operation of the clubs, first as the comptroller of the team and a minority owner, and then as the Director of Hockey Operations for the Platers. In total, he was involved in the running of the organizations for a total of twenty years. In each of these capacities, he was an important contributor to the flourishing of the companies.
In each of these capacities, he was routinely and actively involved in the operations that were being carried out by the teams. His service lasted for the length of this time period, starting from the very beginning and continuing all the way through to its conclusion. Even though he sold his shares of the hockey club to the current ownership group in the year 2000, he continued to work for the team as the Director of Business Operations for the Owen Sound Attack, a position that he has held right up until the present day. Even though he sold his shares, he continued to work for the team as the Director of Business Operations for the Owen Sound Attack.
Even after he had sold his shares, he continued to serve as the Director of Business Operations for the Owen Sound Attack even though he was no longer a shareholder. In spite of the fact that he has divested himself of his ownership interests in the company, he has maintained his employment with the Owen Sound Attack.
