Rachel Nussbaum Obituary, Death – On Tuesday, December 2, 2008, Rachel Mara, age 21 and a resident of West Milford, passed away. Rachel Nussbaum was the daughter of Dr. David and Elaine Nussbaum, whose maiden name was Boyle. Rachel was born in Teaneck. She attended Pope John Paul High School in Sparta after having spent her childhood years in West Milford. At the time, she was a Senior at Tulane University in New Orleans, where she was majoring in both Philosophy and Spanish Studies.
After she received her degree, she intended to enroll in a legal studies program. Rachel was an accomplished singer and actress, and she was also quite involved in the Jewish community. Her devoted parents, David and Elaine Nussbaum, her brother Zachary, her sister Deborah, her grandfather Moses Nussbaum, and a large number of aunts, uncles, and cousins are among the people who will miss her dearly.
Congregation Beth Shalom, located at 21 Passaic Ave. in Pompton Lakes, will be the gathering place for friends and family to pay their respects to the family on Sunday morning between 10 and 11:30. On Sunday, at 11:30 in the morning, there will be a funeral ceremony held in the Synagogue. After the funeral, the burial will take place at King Solomon Cemetery in Clifton. The preparations are being handled by the M. John Scanlan Funeral Home, which is located in Pompton Plains.
