Odell Owens Obituary, Death – According to information provided by his relatives, Dr. O’dell Owens passed away on Friday. The viewing and wake will begin at 10 in the morning and continue until twelve in the afternoon, after which the memorial service will take place. The longtime public servant will be remembered by a great number of people as a trailblazer who had a big influence on the community. He devoted his entire life to serving in some capacity for the state.
Throughout the course of his professional life, he served in a variety of distinguished capacities, including as president of Cincinnati State University and as medical director of the Cincinnati Health Department, to name just two of his many accomplishments. In addition to that, he served as the coroner for Hamilton County. Owens was an innovator in the field of medicine during his time. In addition to being responsible for Cincinnati’s first successful conception and birth, he was also the one who was responsible for the first pregnancy that resulted from the use of a frozen embryo. He was the one who was responsible for initiating the in vitro fertilization program at the University of Cincinnati.
Owens graduated from Woodward High School and obtained his high school diploma there. After graduating from college, earning a master’s degree from Yale University, and completing a reproductive endocrinology fellowship at Harvard Medical School, he proved to some of his professors that they had made an error in their assessment of him. He went on to achieve all three degrees. Owens recounted his experience with WLWT in 2021, claiming that a college counselor had told him that he was “too poor and too uneducated to attend to college” when he was in the ninth grade.

Owens served as the president and chief executive officer of Interact for Health for more than four years before he decided to leave from the organization. He held this post prior to his retirement. The group issued a statement regarding Owens’ passing on Wednesday afternoon, shortly after the message was published online.
