Mona Tullis Obituary, Death – At the age of 99, Mona Belle Tullis passed away without any suffering on December 4, 2022 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital. She was reunited with her husband Bill in heaven after her passing. Tipton, Indiana was the location of her birth on August 18, 1923. Her parents were Obadiah and Georgia (Smith) Dillman. After completing her high school education in Kokomo, Mona went on to study at Ozark Bible College in Joplin, Missouri. It was here that she was introduced to the man who would become the love of her life, William (Bill) Allen Tullis. On August 22, 1948, the couple tied the knot. He passed away on December 6, 2014, two days before she did. Mona held positions at RCA in Marion, Indiana, the Water Company of Montpelier, and the Bureau of Motor Vehicles in Montpelier, Vermont. After she retired, she looked forward to working at the Community Center in Montpelier, where she would serve meals. She attended the Lighthouse Church in Hartford City, Indiana, in addition to being an active member of the Christian Church in Bluffton, Indiana. The activities of crocheting, reading, and watching game shows were among Mona’s favorites, and she cherished quality time with her family.
Her daughters, Cynthia (Cindy) Wingrove (Steve) Elwood, IN, and Patricia (Patty) Mitchell (Phil) Hartford City, are among the loving people who are able to carry on her legacy. Scott Mitchell has granddaughters named Jennifer Allen (Mike), Amanda Wingrove, and Amy Withers (Johnny), and he has a grandson named. Christopher Wingrove, Sarah Barker (Ryan), Tricia Withers, William Withers, Noah Withers, Nicholas Withers, Addison Withers, Zachary Johnston, and Andrew Withers are among the great-grandchildren of the family. Saria Nicole Johnston, Eleanor Jean Barker, and another Great-Great Grandchild is on the way are the current Great-Great Grandchildren. Two sisters: Monelle Bevington and Aldena Jordan.
She was predeceased by her Husband, William A. “Bill” Tullis, Father Obadiah Dillman, Mother Georgia (Smith) Dillman, Granddaughter Nicole Johnston, and Grandson Michael Dillman. She is survived by her Granddaughter Nicole Johnston. James and Mary Tullis, the future father- and mother-in-law, Vernal Chandler and Virgil Chandler, along with their brother In-laws’ brothers include: Dale Bevington, Lyndall Jordan, Charles Tullis, Jim Tullis, Norman Thompson, and Charles Tullis. Mary Chandler, Edna Chandler, Shirley Tullis, Pauline Tullis, and Leota Thompson are all considered to be Mary’s sisters-in-law. On Thursday, December 8, 2022, at one o’clock in the afternoon, the funeral service honoring Mona’s life will be held at the Walker and Glancy Funeral Home in Montpelier. Pastor Les Bantz will preside over the ceremony. The viewing and visitation for close family and friends will take place from noon until one in the afternoon. The interment will take place at the Brookside Cemetery in Montpelier, Indiana, after the service.
