Matty, a transplant recipient, told his story to everyone who had the pleasure of meeting him, including James’ wonderful mother, Sonya. Among those who listened to Matty’s tale was James’ mother. Everyone who ever had the privilege of listening to him was moved to greatness as a result of his words. The year 2016 was the year that Matty left this world. Matty was an excellent source of motivation for anyone who had the opportunity to interact with him due to the admirable behavior that he consistently modeled for others. When Sonya and Matty were traveling up and down the coast giving presentations to children’s schools about their experiences as organ donors, it was during one of these presentations that they first met one another face to face.
This was the beginning of their relationship. Participation in these presentations was made available to children attending schools all along the coast. Since James’s passing, Matty has been an incredible source of comfort and support for our family, and we will be eternally grateful to him for it.
