Marc Safley Death, Obituary – Marc was a well-known face at the national offices of the SCS and NRCS for a significant portion of his career, beginning in the early years of the Farm Bill and continuing beyond that point. During this time, the Farm Bill was still in effect. During the time that he served as the Assistant Director of the Ecological Sciences Division (ESD), as well as the time that he served as the Deputy Chief for Science and Technology in the Ecological Sciences Division (ESD), he was in charge of working on issues and policies that pertained to the conservation of natural resources.
He was also in charge of working on these issues and policies during his time as the Deputy Chief for Science and Technology in the Ecological Sciences Division (ESD). This endeavor was carried out over the course of a number of decades, beginning with the adoption of the Farm Bill in the 1930s and extending well into the 21st century. The passage of the Farm Bill served as the driving force for the launch of this endeavor. In February of 2008, Marc handed in his resignation from the post he held at the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), where he had held it for a lengthy and fruitful career.
Following his retirement, Marc assumed the position of ARCSE Senior Conservationist Chronicler, a position he held from the latter half of 2009 to the middle of 2022. His entire career was dedicated serving in this capacity for the company he was working for. During that time period, he was in charge of writing, editing, and publishing over seventy Senior Chronicles for the ARCSE newsletter. In total, he was responsible for publishing over seventy Senior Chronicles. He was also in charge of seeing to it that those Senior Chronicles were published.
The recipient of the President’s Award for Distinguished Service was honored with the award the following year, 2022. This accomplishment would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of the ARCSE Board. RIP Mark.
