Lucas Cristobal Death, Obituary – The Urbana Police Department and the Champaign County Coroner released new information about an Urbana Middle School student who had passed away the previous day, including the student’s name, on Wednesday. The student had passed away the day before. The student’s body was discovered the day before she had passed away.
According to the statements made by Duane Northrup, the coroner, the deceased was a student by the name of Lucas Cristobal who was 12 years old. According to Northrup and officials with the Urbana Police Department, Cristobal was found unconscious and unresponsive in a hallway at approximately 12:41 p.m.
Cristobal is said to have passed out and was found in the hallway. Cristobal initially received medical attention from members of the school staff, who were quickly joined by responders from the Urbana Police Department and the Urbana Fire Department. Cristobal continued to receive medical attention until he was taken to the hospital. He was taken to Carle Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at 1:26 p.m., despite having been transported there. Northrup stated that the preliminary findings of the autopsy indicated that Cristobal passed away as a result of a medical condition that had not been diagnosed prior to the time of his passing.
The definitive results of the autopsy won’t be available until after the toxicology and other tests have been finished. There is no evidence to suggest that the death was the result of any kind of foul play, malicious intent, or criminal activity, according to the Urbana Police Department, which has also stated that there is no evidence to support this claim. They extended their most heartfelt condolences to Cristobal’s friends and family, in addition to members of the school staff who knew him and had worked with him. The school took the unprecedented step of lowering the American flag to the half-staff position on Wednesday.
It has been exactly 81 years since the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, and a member of the teaching staff or administrative staff at the school has explained that the act was performed in honor of Cristobal as well as those who had passed away as a result of the attack. It was announced by the administration of the school that there would not be a vigil held on Wednesday; however, they are putting the finishing touches on plans for an event that will take place during the school day on Thursday. On Wednesday, classes were not held in order to give students and faculty members time to process the news and express their sorrow over the tragedy that had occurred.
