Lloyd Brown Death, Obituary – Lloyd L. Brown, a good friend and fellow volunteer who had been with us for many years, went away suddenly on November 22nd, 2022. It is with deep regret that we must share this information with you. The news of his demise has struck each and every one of us by complete and utter surprise, and we are going to mourn him horribly. From 1969 through 1972, Lloyd served his country honorably in the United States Air Force as an ordnanceman. During this time, he was a member of the armed forces. After finishing that duty, he reported to the Navy’s Ammunition Depot (NAD) in Hawthorne, Nevada, where he stayed for the following 20 years before finally retiring while still working for the Precision and Testing Laboratory. He did so while still employed there.
He did so while he was still working for the company. Because Lloyd didn’t want to waste any of his time, he found work with the Sierra Pacific Power business checking meters. As a result of this, he was exposed to a large number of new people and was able to cultivate new friendships. By the year 2016, Lloyd had already taken his second retirement and was beginning a new position as a docent at the Hawthorne Ordnance Museum. He had been planning to do all of these things for quite some time. One of his specific areas of interest is the demilitarization of Navy munitions. He has extensive experience in this field. Lloyd became the second photographer to work at the Ordnance museum as we made our way down Main street in Hawthorne with the 105mm Self Propelled Gun. He captured some video of the occasion using his camera.
When things started to get hectic at the museum, Lloyd would make it a point to swing by to see how the other volunteers were faring and to give his own aid. He would also ask if anyone needed his help. In addition to that, he would volunteer to assist as well. A tiny group of his fellow museum volunteers will remember him, and each of them is committed to carrying on his work ethic and dedication to the institution that was so important to him.
As your family struggles to come to terms with this unfathomable loss, please know that you have our deepest condolences. Lloyd is survived by a son and a daughter who are heartbroken over his passing, in addition to a number of grandchildren who considered him the center of their lives. We will keep you and your family in our thoughts and prayers.
