Keith Ramey Death, Obituary – Keith Carroll Ramey, a famous businessman in Dartmouth, passed away in Halifax on December 3, 2022. He was surrounded by his family at the time of his passing. The child of Harold and Elizabeth Ramey, he was born in Bridgewater. Keith came from a poor family and learned at an early age the value of a dollar and the importance of perseverance and hard work. He started working at his grandfather’s sawmill when he was just 12 years old in order to contribute financially to the family. Keith went to the city when he was 16 years old and settled in the Eastern Passage neighborhood. Marilyn, the woman who would become the love of his life, was the one he met here.
During the early years of the Rameys’ marriage, Mr. Ramey held a number of jobs, including those as an army reservist in the military, an employee at an aircraft production facility, and a door-to-door salesman on the side. When he began his long and successful career in the world of finance, he was an intern at Service Investments. At the time, he was married to Marilyn, and the couple had three young children. In 1975, he established K.C. Ramey and Associates in the central business district of Dartmouth. His company experienced a meteoric rise in success over the subsequent four decades, culminating in the 2016 merger of Ramey Investments Inc. with Assante Wealth Management.
Mr. Ramey was an early innovator in the field of financial planning and investing in the province of Nova Scotia. He gave an extraordinary amount of dedication to both his company and his family. The great outdoors was one of Keith’s favorite things to do in his spare time. Everyone who knew him will miss him very much. His devoted wife, Marilyn Ramey (Sawler), his son, Tim Keith Ramey (Adriana Maccario), and his daughter, Shelley Ramey, are the only members of Mr. Ramey’s family still living (Ralph Wilson). In addition to being the grandfather of Alex, Kara, Luc, and Elena, Mr. Ramey was also the great-grandfather of Ryan. Marion, his sister, will also be saddened by his passing.
Keith’s grandparents Harold and Elizabeth Ramey, his parents Harold and Elizabeth Ramey, his son Gary A. Ramey, and his siblings Genieve, Earl, Eugene, Shirley, and Buster all passed away before him. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Dartmouth General Hospital or the VG Site QEII- Palliative Care Unit, 7A. In the following weeks, there will be a Funeral Service held for the deceased.
