Kaitlyn Cefalde Obituary, Death –  On December 2, 2022, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown, Kaitlyn Rose Cefalde answered the call of the great beyond and passed away peacefully amidst the love and support of her family. Youngstown, Ohio was the location of her birth on September 10th, 2000. She was born Michael Cefalde III and Kristina (Meehan) Henik’s daughter in the United States. She received her elementary education in Girard, Ohio, at both Immaculate Heart of Mary Elementary School and St. Rose Elementary School. She received her diploma from Youngstown Ursuline High School (UHS) in 2018 after attending that school. She attended the St. Rose Catholic Parish in Girard, Ohio, where she was a member. Following her graduation from high school, Kaitlyn continued her education at Youngstown State University as well as Eastern Gateway. Her most recent job was as a waitress at the Yankee Kitchen Restaurant in Vienna, Virginia, where she thoroughly enjoyed her work.

She was a member of the Youngstown YMCA Neptunes swim team when she first started swimming competitively at the age of nine. She had a strong affinity for the water. In addition to that, she held the position of lifeguard at the YMCA. During her time at Ursuline High School, her love for swimming was a driving force behind the establishment of the Ursuline Irish swim team. She also had a passion for acting and during her time at UHS she was a part of a number of productions that were staged at the Deibel-Morley Arts Center. Kaitlyn’s “quick wit” will be one of the things that people remember most about her. She had a little “spunk” in her, and she was never one to shy away from a good argument. She had the good fortune to visit a great deal of the country thanks to her love of exploring new places. The sight of the sun rising or setting over the water brought the broadest grins to her face. It was common knowledge that Kaitlyn enjoyed working with children, but the people who knew her best understood that the greatest love she had was for her seven (7) siblings. She was their savior and the big sister they called “Kay Kay.”

She leaves behind her parents, Michael Cefalde III and Kristina (Jason) Henik, who will always cherish her memory. Her brothers and sisters are named Marc, Christian, Matthew, Ayden, Lydia, Dominic, and Gabriel. Great-grandmother Carol Pecchio, Grandparents Michael (II) and Jackie Cefalde, Bob and Marcia Meehan, and Mary Ehinger, and Michael (II) and Jackie Cefalde as Great-Grandparents. She also leaves behind a large number of cousins, aunts and uncles, and friends. During this challenging time, her family has been showered with an incredible amount of love and support from friends and community members, for which they are eternally grateful.

The family and friends of the deceased are cordially invited to attend her calling hours on Friday, December 9, 2022 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Schiavone Funeral Home located at 1842 Belmont Avenue in Youngstown, Ohio 44504 (directions). The family will receive visitors again on Saturday, December 10, 2022, from 9:30 am until 10:30 am at St. Rose Church, which is located at 48 Main Street in Girard, Ohio. This will be followed by the recitation of the rosary at 10:30 am and her Mass of Christian burial, which will begin at 11 am.
