Johnny Haughey Death, Obituary – Sincere condolences are sent to Charlie and the extended Haughey and Freeley families on the loss of Johnny, who was a beloved brother to Johnny. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this difficult time. We have faith that the kind spirit he left behind will eventually be able to rest in peace. Throughout his whole career, Johnny served as Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Roscommon Hurling Association, a post he held for a combined total of 52 years. While we were all playing hurling together in Roscommon, Johnny was the epitome of what it means to be a gentleman.
As a result, many of us have very fond recollections of the time we spent together during that activity. He was a formidable figure in the athletic league, and he had an exceptional passion and enthusiasm for the sport. Moreover, he was a very talented athlete. In addition to that, he was really excellent at it. He demonstrated a keen interest in players of all ages who were selected to represent their respective clubs and counties. His excitement was infectious to all around him. Those who were closest to him and the vast majority of his friends and acquaintances will, as a direct result of his loss, go through the stages of grief.
Johnny Haughey passed away on November 30. He was able to spend his final days in the comfort of his own home in Clooneen, which was located near Athleague, County Roscommon. He had already clocked 93 years in his life. Both of his siblings, his brother Paddy and his sister Mary Freeley (Ballyhaunis), have joined him in the hereafter. Both of them passed dead before him (Clooneen). Everyone who knew and loved him, including his brother Charlie (Tubbercurry), the nieces and nephews of Freeley and Haughey and their families, his close friends and neighbors, and anybody else who ever engaged with him, will miss him dearly.
This includes everyone else who has interacted with him. I hope that you are able to find the tranquility that you are looking for.
