Jeff Copenhaver Obituary, Death – On the day he passed away, May 17, 2022, Copenhaver was at his home in Granbury. He had been there for some time. Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior, welcomed him with the words “well done, my good and trustworthy servant” just before he died away. Jeffry Copenhaver was born to Deb and Leslie Copenhaver on January 12, 1949, and his older sister Debbie was present to greet him when he was first brought into the world.
Jeffry’s formative years were spent in the Pacific Northwest, and it was there that he first discovered his love for rodeo and calf roping. Beginning when he was only fourteen years old, he quickly rose to the top of the local rodeo scene, and by the time 1975 rolled around, he had won the World Calf Roping Championship. At the world-famous rodeo in Ellensburg, Washington, in September of 1978, he married Sherry Geschwendt. Two years later, in 1983, he and Sherry were incredibly blessed with the birth of their daughter Shandy.
In 1986, Jeffry and Sherry became the founding pastors of Cowboy Chapel. Services were held at Billy Bob’s in the bull fighting ring in Fort Worth, and the chapel was named after the couple. After that, they constructed a lovely wood church in Granbury, Texas, which is located on their property and is known as the “New Frontier Cowboy Church.” Jeff and Sherry answered the call that God had given them to go to the rodeo world, the western world, and the world in general by teaching roping techniques in a number of different countries and spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ wherever they went. This call to go to the rodeo world, the western world, and the world in general was given to them by God.
The title of Jeff’s book of rodeo and life teachings is “God wants you to Win,” and it has been picked up and read by thousands of people all around the world. He was a friend and mentor to a significant number of individuals, and there will be a significant void left in their lives as a result of his passing. A huge number of people’s lives and hearts will be forever changed as a result of his influence. His biological mother, Leslie Dinnison, as well as his stepmother, Cheryl Copenhaver, and his biological father, Deb, all passed away before he did.
His family includes his wife Sherry, daughter Shandy Stromberg (and her husband Cody), grandchildren Chloe, Heidi, Dixie, and Bjorn, sisters Debbie Fellows (and her husband Fred) and Kellie Hurt (and her husband Fred), and brothers Guy Copenhaver (and his wife Valeesha) and Matt Copenhaver. He is survived by his wife Sherry, daughter Shandy Stromberg (and her husband Cody), grandchildren Chloe, Heidi Cowboy Church of Erath County, located near Stephenville, Texas; the service will start at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, May 23, 2022; the location of the church
