James Sleigher Obituary, Death – James Sleigher, who was 83 years old and had been a resident of Kissinger Mills throughout his life, passed away at the McKinley Health Center in Brookville on December 3, 2022. He called the town of Rimersburg in Pennsylvania his home. He spent his entire childhood in Kissinger Mills, which he considered to be his hometown. His parents were James C. Sleigher and Loretta C. (Lewis) Sleigher, and he was born on February 19, 1939 in the town of Karns City, which is located in the state of Pennsylvania. He was the elder of the two sons that they had.
Jim was a member of both St. Richard’s Roman Catholic Church and Wildcat Wesleyan Methodist Church; but, in recent years, he attended Wildcat Wesleyan Methodist Church with greater regularity than he did St. Richard’s Roman Catholic Church. In the beginning of his professional life, he started out working for the Rex-Hide. This was his first job. After that, he was employed by the Indspec for a considerable amount of time in the capacity of a worker. Jim was an active outdoorsman who enjoyed hobbies such as fishing, hunting, and camping. He was a big fan of the great outdoors.
He considered going for drives “around the horn” and searching the woods for wild turkeys and white-tailed deer to be one of the most enjoyable ways to pass the time. He enjoyed being outside, working in the yard, and watching sports on television, especially football and baseball. His favorite sports were football and baseball. Football and baseball were two of his all-time favorite sports. Jim cherished the time he was able to spend with his family and always looked forward to the adventures he could have with his grandchildren, such as taking them out for ice cream. Jim also cherished the time he was able to spend working on his farm.
The thoughtfulness that he showed for his family, friends, and coworkers, all of whom will suffer tremendously as a result of his departure, will be remembered for all time and will never be forgotten. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his daughter Mary “Beth” Rankin and her husband Ronald “Bub” Rankin of New Bethlehem; his grandchildren Ashley Nicole Kemmer and husband, Brian.
Whitney Renee DeMiere and husband, Mark Jr., and Katie Jo Rankin; his great-grandchildren Madison and Clayton Kemmer, Teaghan, Mila, and Mark III DeMiere, and Raegan and Rhilyn Zuranik; and his brothers Nicholas and Michael, Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents, his wife Becky E. (Simpson) Sleigher, whom he married on January 21, 1961 and who passed away on December 14, 2017, and a grandson called Matthew B. Songer.
