Jack Holt Obituary, Death – Students and Parents of the Wauconda High School Band and Theater Departments, Since Jack Holt was such a beloved educator of instrumental music at WHS since 2011, we wanted to reach out to all of you and let you know that we are saddened to share the news of his passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with Jack’s family at this time. During his eleven years as a teacher at WHS, Jack was in charge of more than seven different kinds of bands and taught a variety of music classes. During his time at the school, Jack was an integral part of the “Marching Bulldogs” marching band program, which eventually grew to include more than 200 students. In addition to that, he increased the number of opportunities for the jazz band and the winter pep band to perform. Jack also served as the conductor of the pit orchestra for the musical theater productions for a number of years, the most recent of which was the award-winning production of “Spamalot.”
Jack’s generous nature left an impression on everyone he came in contact with because of the size of his heart. Jack devoted his entire life to the education and direction of the students he taught. His enthusiasm for music was infectious, and he was always willing to assist students in reaching their full potential. As a result of his mentoring, a number of his former pupils have continued their musical studies beyond the confines of their high school years. Jack will be remembered for the long-lasting impact he had, as well as his genuine concern for his pupils. Jack will be missed very, very much.
When things are tough, it is essential for us as a school community to reach out to one another, make sure everyone is doing okay, and make sure we are caring for one another. School counselors will be available to meet with students in the band and theater program on Monday morning before school at 7:00 AM in the auditorium. This is being done in order to help our students cope with the loss, and the meeting will take place in the auditorium. Please keep the Holt family in your thoughts and prayers as they go through this difficult time.
Sincerely,
Dan Klett Principal
