Issei Sagawa Death, Obituary –Issei Sagawa, also known as the “Kobe Cannibal,” has died at the age of 73. He was known for his cannibalistic tendencies. He was a Japanese serial killer who became infamous for the fact that he killed and ate a Dutch student, but for some reason, he was never put behind bars for his crimes. According to a statement that was issued by Sagawa’s younger brother and a friend, the funeral for Sagawa, who died on November 24 from pneumonia, was a private affair that was only attended by his relatives.
Sagawa passed away on November 24. There were no preparations being made for a public event to be held in his honor. The statement was issued by the publisher of a memoir that was written by Sagawa’s brother and is scheduled to be released in the year 2019. In 1981, when Sagawa was a student at a university in Paris, he invited Renee Hartevelt, a student from the Netherlands, to pay a visit to him at his apartment. Renee Hartevelt accepted the invitation.
After shooting her in the neck, he raped her before proceeding to consume various parts of her body over the course of three days. After that, he made an effort to dispose of her body in the park of Bois de Boulogne, but he ended up getting arrested there instead of achieving his goal. After it was determined by professionals in the field of psychiatry that Sagawa did not have the mental capacity to stand trial, he was first detained in a mental institution in France before being shipped to Japan for the trial.
There, the Japanese authorities determined that he was of sound mind; however, because the charges that had been brought against him in France were dropped, he was allowed to go free. This was due to the fact that the charges that had been brought against him in Japan were dropped. Sagawa did not try to cover up the fact that he was responsible for the crime, and he capitalized on his notoriety by penning a memoir that was written in the form of a novel and titled “In the Fog.”
In this book, he reminisced about the murder and provided a detailed description of how it took place. Additionally, in interviews and in the documentary titled “Caniba,” which was released in 2017, he went into detail about the incident, as well as his ongoing obsession with cannibalism. He confessed his former “obsession with cannibalism” to the media outlet Vice. He said that in the past he had been “obsessed with cannibalism.” My desire to feast on the flesh of a woman became an obligation for me to fulfill at this point.
