Dick Haines Obituary, Death – It is with a heavy heart that we share the news that our longtime friend and member of the board, Dick Haines, has died away. He possessed a wide range of skills, but the one that stood out the most was his compassion for his fellow man. He will unquestionably be missed. Richard “Dick” H. Haines, 63 years old, passed away on April 10, 2005 at the Camden Clark Memorial Hospital. He was from Belpre, Ohio.

He was the son of the late Gherman H. Haines and Geraldine Boyer Haines, and he was born on July 12, 1941 in Frederick, Maryland. His parents both passed away. He attended the Mass at the Catholic Church of St. Ambrose regularly. He enjoyed putting together jigsaw puzzles, playing with his model trains, and watching basketball and hockey on television. Surviving members of his family include his sister Carol and brother-in-law Larry Arnold, with whom he shared his home for the past 14 years; his niece Kimberly Arnold, Belpre and her fiancée Todd McGinnis; his niece Nikki Shick and her husband Brian of Twinsburg, Ohio; his uncle Robert Haines and his wife Jean of Hagerstown, Maryland; and five cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his parents were born in the United States. The celebration of the Christian burial mass will take place on Friday at 10:00 AM at the St. Ambrose Catholic Church, with Father David Huffman serving as the celebrant. After the funeral, the burial will take place at the Rockland Cemetery. On Thursday, family and friends are welcome to call at the Leavitt Funeral Home in Belpre from 5 until 8 PM. A Wake service will take place at 8 PM. You can make contributions to the Little Hocking Rescue Squad or the Washington County Association of Retarded Citizens. Both organizations are doing important work.
