Debra Rumsey Death, Obituary – Debra Lee Rumsey, a resident of Waverly who was 65 years old at the time of her untimely death at home on December 3, 2022, went suddenly unexpectedly.
Her parents, Claude H. and Lula Lattimer Rumsey, as well as her sister, Hazel McLean, and her brother, Donald Rumsey, all passed away before she did. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was the only member of her family to have lived to an old age. She was the only member of her family to have reached an advanced age and she was the only one who did.
Debra is survived by her children Stacey (Vince).
Thorp and Leigh (Jennifer) Ramsey, both of Waverly; her brother-in-law Mike McLean of Rome, New York; her siblings Judy (Charles) Harbst of Texas and Claude (Jan) Rumsey of Arizona; her grandchildren Megan and Derek Thorp along with Kateylne and Jordan Ramsey; and Noah Hughes; her great-grandchildren Sophia Campbell and Mitchel Field; She was an attentive and hard-working mother who devoted her life to taking care of her family and did everything she could to provide for them. Before she started working at Rynones in Waverly, she was employed at Ames in Sayre for a number of years and gained valuable work experience there. She filled her spare time with activities such as the collection of bears, wolves, and dream catchers, as well as the creation of handcrafted things such as jewelry.
At the Blauvelt Funeral Home, which is located in Waverly, New York at 625 Broad Street, there will be a visitation on Thursday, December 8, 2022 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and guests are welcome to pay their respects there. The visitation will take place on the same day as the funeral service.
