Dale Smith Obituary, Death – Dale Theron Smith passed away on September 4, 2022 in his house in River Heights, which was filled with his family at the time of his passing. In Salt Lake City, Utah, on November 6, 1942, Dale Rogers Smith became the fifth and final child to be welcomed into the world by his parents, Joseph Rogers and Signe Evelyn Smith. After completing his high school education at East High School in Salt Lake City, he went on to study at Weber State College in Ogden.
Dale was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a mission for the organization in the Scottish and Irish Mission. He was glad to serve his country when he was called up by the Army immediately after completing his mission. On June 20, 1966, he tied the knot with Jerrilyn Coleman. After being married and having four children together—namely, Michael (Jay), SherriLee (Douglas), Craig (Margaret), and Andrea—they subsequently got a divorce.
On September 25th, 1993, Dale was united in marriage to Carol Howells in Roy, Utah. Trent (Lisa) and Clint (Jaime) were Carol’s two sons, while Lacie was her daughter (Jory). He had a tremendous amount of affection for his wife Carol, and he cherished the journeys that they went on together. They were able to pass on many of their most treasured experiences to their children. He cherished each and every one of his 26 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
Dale took pleasure in being of service to others. After reaching a certain age, he became a missionary and worked at the Bishop’s Storehouse. He took great pleasure in both maintaining and damaging his vehicles. He enjoyed going hunting, fishing, and 4 wheeling in his truck, as well as camping and spending time outside with his family and shooting guns. He also loved getting under the hood of a car and fixing it, especially with his children and grandchildren.
He explained, “I’ve always had to put in a lot of effort in order to get what I wanted.” Because I am not a quitter, I intend to continue working for as long as I am able. Dale endured faithfully until the end, and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him. A memorial service will be held at the Church located at 800 South 600 East River Heights, Utah 84321 on September 24, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
