Courtney Kampa Obituary, Death – An online eulogy published on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, revealed that Courtney Kampa had unexpectedly passed away the day before. In any event, the cause of death has not been disclosed. Courtney Kampa spent her childhood in the state of Virginia. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the College of Virginia and a Master of Fine Arts degree from Columbia College.
Her debut collection, Our Woman of Not Inquiring as to Why (2017), was selected by Mary Szybist for the New Issues Press First Book Grant. She is a Wallace Stegner Individual at Stanford University. Her verse has been published in a variety of publications, including Boston Audit, Triquarterly, and Best New Artists, amongst others.
Courtney Kampa was selected as a finalist for the 2016 Ruth Lilly Prize and was awarded the Perusers’ Decision Grant from the Clatter Prize for Verse in 2014. We urge that you please allow the family to find an opportunity, to make preparations, and to grieve together as a family as soon as possible.
