Claudette Corey Obituary, Death – Dedicated and loving mother, adored grandmother, and cherished wife On Friday, December 2, 2022, at the age of 88, Claudette M. Corey (Petrulio), who resided in Cedar Grove, New Jersey, died away with her family by her side. After completing her undergraduate studies at Endicott College in Beverly, Massachusetts, she returned to her hometown of Montclair, New Jersey, where she worked as an assistant manager at Hahne’s Department Store.
She was born and reared in Montclair. Following their marriage, she and her late husband, William Corey, made their home in Cedar Grove, New Jersey, where they brought up their four children. William Corey passed away in 2010. Claudette was a talented chef who enjoyed preparing delicious meals for her loved ones, particularly during the winter holidays when her house was transformed into a social hub. She welcomed a rotating procession of her children’s friends into her home as they were growing up, which earned her the reputation of being the “neighborhood mom.” She was known for always being ready with a grin and a treat.
Claudette was a devout member of the choir at St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church in Cedar Grove, where she also attended services as a parishioner. She was an avid tennis player and also had a passion for the game of bridge, which she played regularly. She was a passionate gardener, and she delighted in spending many pleasant hours tending to her garden on Cape Cod and attempting to outrun the deer that visited her New Jersey home.
It has been sixteen years since she became a grandmother for the first time, and she has enthusiastically embraced her new identity as “Nana.” After that, she welcomed a total of five children into her heart and home. She had a lot of fun going to their plays and games and other special occasions, as well as watching them grow up and hearing about all the things they did. Her absence will be keenly felt by everyone around her.

On the evening of Tuesday, December 6, 2022, from four to seven o’clock in the evening, the family will host a visitation at Shook’s Cedar Grove Funeral Home, which is located at 486 Pompton Avenue in Cedar Grove, New Jersey. Funeral services are scheduled to take place at St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at 10:00 am. The church is located at 339 Pompton Avenue in Cedar Grove, New Jersey. Arrival at the funeral home should begin no later than 9:00 a.m., with the start of the prayers scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Following the funeral, interment will take place at Mount Hebron Cemetery in Upper Montclair, New Jersey.
