Charlene Jones Obituary, Death – A automobile and a semi-truck were involved in a collision early on Friday morning not far from the Rivian electric vehicle factory in Normal. The collision, which claimed the life of a 57-year-old woman from Bloomington, was caused by the car. Trooper Rodger Goines of the Illinois State Police informed The Pantagraph in an emailed statement that police were called to a three-vehicle collision on Rivian Motorway at West College Avenue in Normal at 7:10 a.m. on Friday. West College Avenue is located at the intersection of Rivian Motorway.
According to Goines, one of the cars involved was a semi-truck. This information comes from the investigation.
On Friday afternoon, the McLean County Coroner Kathy Yoder identified the deceased person as Charlene C. Jones and confirmed her identity as the person who had passed away. Yoder noted in a press release that the woman died from multiple blunt force injuries after the vehicle she was driving collided with another automobile and was then hit by a semi-truck. He said this happened after the vehicle she was driving collided with another automobile. The incident took place as a result of the woman’s vehicle being involved in a collision with another vehicle or vehicles. Yoder has indicated that further testing on the subject of toxicity will be done at a later time.
Goines told the press that the northbound lanes of Rivian Motorway and one of the southbound lanes would be closed for a significant amount of time while state police performed their investigation of the accident scene. This occurred on Friday morning. On its Facebook page, the Normal Police Department announced that its officers were assisting with the investigation and that College Avenue was closed at Rivian Motorway. It also stated that the road was closed. Additionally, it was said in the post that the investigation was still continuing on. On Friday at 12:45 p.m., the National Park Service made the announcement that both College Avenue and Rivian Motorway were once again open to traffic.
