Catherine Hedlin Obituary, Death – Catherine Hedlin passed away on December 6, 2022. Although a lot of people have already heard the news, we wanted to make sure that everyone knew how much we care by telling you here. Over the course of her career, which spanned more than three decades, Catherine Hedlin provided care for children and adolescents in a variety of settings and contexts, such as intensive residential treatment, sexual violence, women’s shelters, and program accreditation. Her entire career has been driven by her passion for working with and advocating for adolescents, as well as for developing the field of child and youth care as a profession. Over the past 15 years, Catherine has been an esteemed and devoted member of the Child and Youth Care program at MacEwan University. She will be sorely missed by her peers and colleagues in the program.
Catherine adored working with children and teenagers, as well as the students she taught. She was the kind of person who was always willing to lend a helping hand and who gave her all in everything she undertook. Catherine was someone who was always there to lend a helping hand, and her primary goal in life was to make the world a friendlier and more compassionate place.
Our deepest condolences go out to her family, friends, former students, and current ones who were affected by her passing. Catherine had a deep and abiding love for her people. A vibrant celebration of her life will be held the following spring, and we will be planning it together with her family and friends. Catherine cherished the rebirth that comes with spring, and she would want us to celebrate her life with merriment, humor, and a great deal of love!
As a program, we are experiencing collective grief. We will not be able to respond to each and every message that has been sent to us, but please know that we value and appreciate each one. The outpouring of love and support that has been shown in Catherine’s memory is both an honor and a source of humility for her.
