Carole Beattie Death, Obituary – On December 7th, 2022, Carole passed away in Sarasota, Florida, at a time and location that were calm and unruffled before and during her passing. In the late 1970s, Carole and her husband Bob began using the prefix SUNSPRYTE in connection with the presentation of award-winning Wire Fox and Welsh Terriers to the rest of the world. This was done in connection with the use of the SUNSPRYTE name.
During the time that she and Bob owned and operated their own interior design business in the Tampa Bay area, she always had a Wire Fox Terrier by her side, while Bob had a Welsh Terrier. During this time, she and Bob also adopted two dogs as their companions. During that time, both of their terriers were there for them whenever they needed a friend. Throughout the years, the name Sunspryte has been associated with the breeding of more than a hundred champion Wire Fox Terriers and Welsh Terriers. As a result of their success in exhibiting dogs of both breeds, they were able to win multiple National Specialties, multiple Best in Shows, and hundreds of Group Ones over the course of their careers.
One of the Group One awards that they won was the Terrier Group One award at the Westminster Kennel Club in the year 1999. In addition to that, they were successful in amassing a considerable number of Group Ones. Carole is the only person in the entirety of recorded history to ever have her litter of Welsh Terrier puppies win multiple Best in Show honors at various dog shows. Carole is the recipient of these prestigious titles. At the Westminster Kennel Club Show in 1991, the offspring of the same litter each won the titles of Best of Breed, Group IV, and Best in Show, respectively.
After that, Carole participated in the judging process for the Best in Show competition, in addition to serving as a judge for the Terrier, Toy, and Sporting divisions. Her judging duties took her all over the world, including to a number of locations in Canada, Europe, Asia, and Australia, to name just a few of the countries and regions that she traveled to. It was common knowledge that she was an extremely knowledgeable “dog person” and that she was an excellent mentor for anyone who sought her assistance.
