Palm Beach – Brian Patrick Burns, a resident of Palm Beach, Florida, and a native of San Francisco, California, who had reached the age of 85 when he passed away in a peaceful manner on August 12, 2021, was the most proud descendant of the Emerald Isle that the world had ever seen. As an Irish American of the third generation, he immersed himself in the history and culture of Ireland.
As a result, he became an expert on both. As a result of the enthusiasm and commitment that he demonstrated throughout the course of his entire life, the publication Irish America referred to him as one of the “Greatest Irish Americans of the 20th Century.” Brian will be fondly remembered by his wife, Eileen Corroon Burns of Palm Beach, as well as by their eight children and 15 grandchildren. In 1994, Mr. Burns wed Eileen Corroon in New York City. Mr. Burns was preceded in death by his mother, Alice Blake of Andover, Massachusetts; his father, The Honorable John J. Burns; and his siblings, John J. Burns, Jr., Daniel Blake Burns, Professor Robert Emmett Burns, and Ellen Moira Burns. Mr. Burns himself passed away before his parents and siblings. On July 12, 1936, Mr. Burns made his debut into the world in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Before he graduated from College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts in 1957, he attended Belmont Hill School and Saint Sebastian Preparatory School. Both of these schools are located in Massachusetts. After receiving his degree from the College of the Holy Cross, Mr. Burns worked for the institution as a trustee for more than a decade after he graduated.
