Barbara Coble Obituary, Death –  Barbara F. Coble, age 94, of Flora, passed away without suffering on Friday, December 2, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. at the Burge House in Flora. She was surrounded by her devoted family at the time of her passing. Barbara was the daughter of James Russell Corry and Nola Faye (Rose) Corry and was born on May 7, 1928 in Flora, Illinois. Her mother’s maiden name was Rose. She wed Leroy W. Coble on July 5, 1946 in Terre Haute, Indiana, and the couple remained married for 53 years before he passed away on September 16, 1999. They had shared 53 years of marriage together. Barbara was employed by the City of Flora as a payroll clerk for a number of years. In addition to that, she maintained the books for the Flora location of her husband’s company, Coble Truck and Tractor. She enjoyed making stained glass panes, painting dishware, and quilting in her spare time. She was a founding member of the Flora Town Clowns. Barbara was active in the Flora community and participated in the life of the First United Methodist Church.

Barbara is survived by her son, Jhan (Haley) Coble of Flora; nine of her grandchildren, including Calli Crow, Russell Coble, Juli Coble, Jenny Bray, Lindy Kohn, Candace May, Kirby Coble, Parker Coble, and Whitney Coble; thirteen of her great-grandchildren, including Gideon, Zola, Eli, Jameson, Ivy, Macon, Amelia, Hadley, Jaxon, Emma, Ellis, Walker, and Zaida In addition, she is survived by a brother, Ray Corry, who is married to Nancy and lives in Fairview Heights, Illinois.

Barbara’s parents and son, Jeffrey T. Coble, as well as her siblings Edith Hull, Gary Corry, and Johny Corry, passed away before she did. On Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at twelve o’clock noon, memorial services commemorating Barbara’s life will be held at the McGriff Funeral Home in Flora, with Pastor Mark Smith serving as the officiant. After the funeral, the burial will take place at the Elmwood Cemetery in Flora. Friends and family are welcome to pay their respects at the funeral home on Tuesday morning during the visitation, which will take place from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm.
