Alex Hansen Obituary, Death – On Friday, December 2, 2022, Alexander Sasha Hansen, who was the son of Adam Gamba Hansen of Belmont, North Carolina, and Jaime Nichole Huey of Irmo, South Carolina, the brother of Kyle Gamba Hansen, and the grandson of Michelle and Wilbur Dean Huey of Glen Campbell, Pennsylvania, as well as Nancy and Jerry Hansen of Aiken, South Carolina, passed away. Alex was born in Augusta, Georgia, on January 6th, 2001. Up until 2016, when his family relocated to Irmo, South Carolina, he received his education at Millbrook Elementary School, Kennedy Middle School, and South Aiken High School. In 2019, Alex received his high school diploma from Irmo.
Alex was a passionate soccer player who played the game with a lot of effort. He was a member of the GA/SC Bulls and GPS Lexington when he played club soccer. In his time at Irmo High School, he was a part of the Junior Varsity and Varsity soccer teams as well as the Cross Country squad. After graduating from high school, he went on to study and play soccer at Coker College for his freshman year. He was a member of several teams in the Columbia Central League, on which he frequently competed alongside his brother and father. He was a devoted fan of both the South Carolina Gamecocks and Manchester City FC, which plays in the Premier League.
In addition to that, Alex had a strong interest in automobiles; he enjoyed working on them, driving them, and learning about them. He was really passionate about his Honda Prelude, and he spent many hours customizing and detailing it. He went to the Irmo Car Meets on a consistent basis and was a frequent attendee. During those two years, Alex held the position of waiter at The British Bulldog Pub in Irmo, South Carolina. He had a true passion for his work, the environment of the bar, and, most importantly, the coworkers he worked alongside.
Alex was an insightful, devoted, and lovely spirit who was taken from us much too soon and who will be mourned by a great number of people. Along with his immediate family, he is survived by his uncles and aunts Todd and Natalia Huey of Portland, Michigan, David and Megan Huey of Martinsburg, West Virginia, Shelley and Curtis Small of Glen Campbell, Pennsylvania, Logan Hansen of West Danville, Vermont, Damon Hansen and Amanda Burns of Atlanta, Georgia, Conner and Maggie Hansen of Concord, New Hampshire, as well as his cousins Brent, Madison, Deagan, Lindsey, and Garrett Alex also had a vast and affectionate extended family consisting of great uncles and aunts as well as second cousins, all of whom will always remember him.
On Thursday, December 8, a private memorial ceremony will be held for the family at Dunbar Funeral Home. This will be followed by an open-house time of remembrance at the British Bulldog Pub beginning at six o’clock in the evening. Everyone who knew and loved Alex is welcome to join us at the Bulldog, and we encourage you to wear your favorite soccer jersey or casual wear in the colors of Manchester City, the University of South Carolina, or Irmo High School.
